I am deeply honoured to serve as the first Chairman of GCIOBA 93-99 Europe. With great responsibility and dedication, I wholeheartedly embrace this role, eager to guide our vibrant community of old boys towards continued growth and success.
I wish to extend my heartfelt commendation to the exceptional work accomplished under the guardians of the previous leadership. Their efforts have laid a solid foundation, which we will now build upon. Their dedication has not only preserved our cherished traditions but has also set in motion a benchmark for what we aspire to achieve in the
future.
Moving forward, we have identified several key initiatives that require our focused attention. Central to our mission is the promotion of open conversations about our personal and professional struggles. It’s crucial that we create a supportive environment where members feel safe to express vulnerabilities and seek help without fear of judgment.
Emphasising that it is okay not to be okay is vital in cultivating a community that champions mental well-being alongside professional achievement. In addition to fostering personal growth, we are committed to strengthening our membership across the continent.
This involves not only increasing our numbers but also deepening the engagement with our current members to ensure they feel valued and connected. We plan to establish new partnerships within the European community, which will enhance our network and provide greater opportunities for collaboration and mutual support.
Furthermore, we will continue our steadfast commitment to supporting the younger generation of GCIOBA scholars. By investing in their education and development, we are nurturing future leaders who will carry forward the legacy of Government College Ibadan with pride and competence.
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the Executive members. It’s important to acknowledge that this is not a paid position, yet each of us has willingly dedicated our time and energy to ensure the growth and success of this association. Your efforts and unwavering commitment are deeply appreciated, and I am inspired to give my best because of individuals like you, who selflessly commit to helping others thrive. With such dedication and passion, the sky is truly the limit for the association.
Our union stands at a pivotal moment, and I am inspired by the potential that lies within our collective efforts. Together, we will work to ensure that GCIOBA 93-99 Europe not only grows in size but also in stature and influence, becoming a beacon of excellence and fellowship for all its members.
